I have been working hard on my craft since 2004, and I think I have a skill level that shows in my work. I am the do over queen and there are many heads without bodies to suggest that these mistakes drive me to the perfect end. The finished doll always seems to lead to the next doll, one is born out of another. This is why I love making dolls. It is the air I breathe and pretty much defines me. I am a doll maker.

This may sound strange but these bodiless heads and headless bodies speak to me. I have control over the parts and pieces individually, but the position involved in the connection is revealed at the moment the pieces touch one another for the first time. The head moves me to sew it in a certain pose, same with the hands and arms. The whole doll forms itself to be expressive according to its idea of itself.

Hair, My Favorite . . . . . .

These dolls are in many ways like sculptural portraits. The whole personality will be found above the shoulders. I love doing these small pieces I think because the impact is within the space of the head. I can do so much and leave the rest to your imagination. This dolls hair is made of eyelash yarn. Very messy stuff, but it comes in so many colors so I will deal with all the purple left over on the floor. This hair is made of cotton yarn. I have never used this before, but it should soak up the stiffener well since it is cotton. We shall see.To finish these dolls, they will get a collar and some sort of neck tie or scarf, and of course they are all getting hats . . . . . .

I Have Doll Face Elbow . . . . . .

Something about gripping a pencil in one hand and a doll head in the other makes my elbow ache. So I need a break. I drew the faces on 4 of the 6 today. I have the pieces to their hats forming in the molds. I need to put the hair on the dolls first so I will know how large an opening I will need for the hats. Pretty excited to get to work on these guys or girls. I never know what I am making until the end. . . . .Funny how at this stage they all seem to look alike, a little variation with the eye color and they all have a slightly different shaped face. The hair is where the individual personality of the doll reveals itself . . . .

What Has 6 Heads and No Arms or Legs?

Here are the 6 heads with their necks on and 3 have their fabric skin on. The other white white heads will get their tan on soon.
I plan on doing another series of "Just Heads". These all have the same inspiration as the "Fancy" dolls. "Old World Goth". I have not been selling and I thought maybe having something in my shop at a lower selling point might get some attention.

If I don't start selling, I am going to have to put up more shelves . . . . . .
